The double airbag System
for backpacks. Two 75 liter airbags stored in the side pockets of
a backpack leave room in the middle of the pack for personal belongings.
Handling and comfort are similar to mountaineering packs used by backcountryskiers.
The cartridges are integrated
into the backpack.
The Dual System is activated with air pressure.
The Dual System is activated with air pressure. The detachable trigger
handle contains a pressure capsule which activates the inflation cartridge.
The single airbag, in
smaller, lighter packs for those skiers and
snowboarders who travel only with shovel and probe and a small
amount of additional belongings / survival equipment).
Less is more:
All components and gas cartridges of the Compact System are stored
together in one unit and the 150 l airbag is fastened to this unit.
The activation occurs with
a simple "bowden" pulley. If it comes to
rescue equipment, simple is good. A strongly tensioned spring automatically
starts the activation procedure and therefore absolutely guarantees
the safe functioning of the system.
Both systems are based on the
same principle:
They increase the volume with a 150 liter Nitrogen-air mix within 2 seconds and
are reusable.
The gas cartridges and trigger handles are refillable. Both systems,
the cartridges, the appropriate backpacks and bags have been tested
according to the guidelines for personal safety equipment by TÜV/BAM
and are stamped with the CE decal.
Field testing has been performed by the Institute for Snow
and Avalanche Researchin Davos where the principle of the operating system has also been proven with
computer simulation.
